Choosing the Magellan Brand of GPS Navigation Units
Quite a few of the more established GPS device companies are making efforts to upgrade their global positioning products. A nice option is the Magellan Roadmate 1470 Portable GPS Navigator.
Magellan GPS devices are a bit distinctive since they have always engineered their top-selling models to be inexpensive and convenient. The shortcoming of affordability, naturally, is that cutting edge technology is hardly ever available at reasonable prices. Consequently, the quality of Magellan’s devices has received mixed reviews. Magellan answered this complaint by producing several advanced models for the most demanding GPS users.
Magellan Maestro

Regarding its performance, the Roadmate is somewhat improved with some models like the Roadmate 1212 benefitting from the Centrality Atlas III Processor. If you like playing with the menus, you will likely notice a rather frustrating delay when pushing the buttons. The battery power isn’t remarkable either; it’s able to run for about 3 hours before a recharge is needed.
On the upside, the Roadmate is deemed superior to many of the Maestro budget devices, storing many more POI’s as compared to the Maestro 3100 with its measly 750,000 points of interest. The Roadmate keeps pace with other brands by including over 6 million points of interest. Text-to-speech, which is always a welcome feature, has been included in a few of the mid-range models. The price isn’t prohibitive either, which is impressive for a slim device. A good device to look into is the Magellan Roadmate 1470 Portable GPS Navigator.
Even though there are only two collections to choose from, they each offer at least 10 models per group in a range of different costs and abilities. The cheapest Magellan devices aren’t recommended for regular users on account of the regular crashes, but more expensive models are quite satisfactory and ought to be suitable for commuters to be happy with.
