Crossbow: Die Cast Steel vs. Aluminum Alloy?
I am considering purchasing my first crossbow. I am stuck between choosing one whose frame is made of Die Cast Steel, where as the other is Aluminum Alloy.
Which is better?
I’m no metalurgist, but I am a pretty decent fabricator with a nice metal-working shop. The only times I can remember hearing the term “die cast” is with my toys when I was a kid. I suppose we could have helped better had you actually linked us to the two crossbows you are considering.
Aluminum alloy doesn’t really tell us anything except that it is aluminum. It can be spun, cast, cold forged or hot forged. Which one makes a huge difference.
